BEST BMW DESCRIPTION FOR ANY NEW INTERESTED BUYER
This may be the simplest explanation of the day!
Agreeing with both my friends Sineth and Amila, let me start by saying following models are great cars to own and drive as we possess personal experience in relation to them models/ cars.
You want something really fun to drive with great fuel economy and freely available so cost effective when it comes to parts, go for an e36 petrol.. recommend e36 318i or 320i as they are rock solid engines.
If you want something comfortable, economical as well as fun to drive with throttle and torque, go for an e46 320d. But parts bit pricey than e36. Specially if you can go for an original facelift with common rail engine which is usually sells between 3.6 - 4.3 million, that's a win.
If you want a full size sedan with comfort, great stability, yet powerful car which is a good drive, go for an e39 525i or 530d. Manual is more pleasurable when it comes to 530d as opposed to 525i to be honest and that is if you want to play havoc on the road. If not, e39 525i, no matter if it is auto or manual, is a good smooth powerful ride. But don't expect fuel economy of more than 7km/l max if it is a 525i manual and 10km/l max if it is 530d when it comes to urban driving. You may be able to find a good 525i or 530d between 3.6 - 4.5 million depending on their condition, options and level of maintenance!
And finally e38, a ship size sedan, which has great comfort, stability and power (if it is a 730i or higher in my opinion) but not economically sound either to drive or maintain these days. Yet great cars they are being the flagship model of BMW during that era!
Last two models are not really economical when it comes to spare parts either. Then again it depends on how deep your pockets are!
One common factor to be aware of: find a car with proper maintenance history both mechanically and electrically. Interior or exterior you may redo as you wish but you will feel tired if you have to spend days in workshops if you are not an enthusiast of BMW.
Good luck with your search. Let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you to find your desired car!
